Maintaining the Gold Standard of Public Education

As residents of Mill Valley, we are incredibly lucky to have the gold standard of public education in our K-12 schools. Watching my three sons progress through multiple elementary schools, Mill Valley Middle School, and Tamalpais High School, I truly believe there is no better public school system than here in our city. Looking forward, we must ensure that the crucial connection and partnership between the city council, school boards, administrators, teachers and parents continues to be as robust and collaborative as possible so that all entities can work together in their vital roles to continue shaping the educational landscape of our community. Ultimately, this strong partnership is vital to the well-being of the entire Mill Valley community.

Meet Mike

Mike is a senior official with the U.S. State Department where he is currently posted in San Francisco, bridging the entrepreneurial world of Silicon Valley with the digital enterprises of the federal government. Prior to this latest chapter of public service, Mike was a longtime partner in the venture capital firm Sippl Investments LLC, working closely with his colleagues to identify, invest in and incubate companies in healthcare and information management domains. Mike started his private sector career as a published scientist, with multiple patents and publications to his name. His proudest achievement has been his work with a number of healthcare companies which have produced life-saving therapeutics and diagnostics for rare and orphan diseases.

Public Servant

Whether serving in the Marine Corps, developing therapeutics and diagnostics to treat human diseases, or as a foreign service officer in the State Department, my career of almost 40 years has always been focused on serving the public and making a positive impact on society.

Community Minded

The culture of community in Mill Valley fosters connection, collaboration and support across our citizens and creates a sense of belonging which I haven’t felt in any other city or country where we’ve lived. We must all strive to retain this culture and ensure it continues to thrive for our children, and their children after them.

Reach Out, Volunteer, Endorse!

Why I'm Running

My career has been focused on serving others. From enlisting in the Marine Corps after high school, as a published scientist and businessperson in healthcare, to my current role as a Foreign Service Officer with the State Department. I want to bring all of these experiences together to serve our community of Mill Valley.

If elected, my focus will be on the key aspects which make our home what it is. Partnering with teachers, administrators and parents to ensure Mill Valley schools remain the gold standard in education. Collaborating with housing authorities to ensure growth and diversity consistent with the charm and culture of our city. Working with small businesses to grow our local economy.  Overall, ensuring Mill Valley is the best that it can be.

Thank you for considering my candidacy, I look forward to the opportunity to serve all of Mill Valley. Share this journey with me and make your voice heard this November.
