Affordable Housing
Affordable housing addresses several of the most basic of human needs - shelter, security and a place of belonging to call home. Meeting State mandates for affordable housing will be challenging but the benefits of increasing access to affordable housing are undeniable and span multiple categories - economic, health, education and diversity. As we meet this challenge in the coming years, we must do so with intentionality, carefully and creatively planning for affordable housing while ensure that we maintain the character of Mill Valley through the various communities.
Growth of Small Businesses
As an entrepreneur, I am most interested in growing the small business community in Mill Valley with a keen eye towards leveraging this growth to increase diversity. Incentivizing female, minority, senior and veteran-owned small businesses to establish their presence in the city will undoubtedly add to the unique charm of the city while offering new services and products to Mill Valley residents.
Emergency Preparedness
Continuing to increase Mill Valley’s emergency preparedness is vital to ensuring the safety and resilience of our city. As climate change results in more potential natural disasters in the coming years, ensuring that our public safety officials and first responders have adequate resources to plan, train for and execute operations which mitigate the risk of wildfires, floods, and earthquakes is crucial. Similarly, increasing public education related to emergency preparedness allows for critical collaboration between public safety officials and Mill Valley residents.
